John the Apostle
John 8:15BSB·traditional attribution

You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.

John Gill Reformed Baptist

The law of Moses itself requires two witnesses to establish any matter; your own Scripture says so in Deuteronomy. The Jewish doctors agree: no judicial case, no matter of money or life, stands on one witness alone. Two convict three of falsehood, and two confirm what three claim. Christ's witness of Himself therefore needs another, and He has it: His Father bears witness too.

John Calvin Reformed

They judge by the flesh, meaning they are ruled by carnal feelings or swayed by mere appearance, not by the Spirit. But Christ does not judge as they do; He abstains from the judge's office entirely, which proves their arrogance, they seize the power to condemn Him while He only teaches and does not judge them at all.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

Though the Pharisees turned a deaf ear and opposed Him, Christ spoke again to them: I am the light of the world. One sun enlightens the whole world, and so does one Christ; there needs no more. He is the Sun of righteousness, not the light of the Jewish church only, but of all mankind.
