For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

John Gill Reformed Baptist

The genuine fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth. Goodness lies in sympathizing with the distressed and forgiving injuries; righteousness in obeying God's law and discharging duty to our fellows; truth opposed to lying, hypocrisy, and falsehood. Where the Spirit's work is, these fruits will appear, though imperfect.

Geneva Bible Notes Reformed

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (c) The faithful are called light, both because they have the true light in them which enlightens them, and also because they give light to others, insomuch that their honest conversation reproves the life of wicked men.
