The Mount of Olives, a mile east of Jerusalem, was where He customarily lodged during the feasts. Gethsemane lay on its western slope, Bethany on its east; His friends and haunts were there.

William Burkitt Anglican
Though Jerusalem was deadly dangerous, He spent days preaching in the temple and nights in prayer on the mount, then returned at dawn to preach again. His whole life was pain and labour for His Father's glory and our good. How little do we resemble Him when our days are pastime and pleasure.
