Solomon
Psalm 127:3WEB·superscription

Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward.

C.H. Spurgeon Reformed Baptist

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord. This points to another mode of building up a house, namely, by leaving descendants to keep our name and family alive upon the earth. Without this what is a man's purpose in accumulating wealth! To what purpose does he build a house if he has none in his household to hold the house after him?

Keil & Delitzsch Lutheran

Sons are a blessed gift from above, not earned by hereditary right but bestowed freely according to God's judgment. When born of a youthful marriage, they grow strong and come to their vigor as their father grows old, becoming like arrows ready in hand for defense in dangerous times.

John Calvin Reformed

Men ascribe their success entirely to themselves and rob God of His due honor. Solomon corrects this perverse error by declaring that nothing prospers except by God's blessing; our ingratitude is instant and shameless unless we acknowledge His hand in every prosperous event.
