Psalm 92:1KJV·author unknown

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

John Calvin Reformed

This psalm teaches us to praise God because His justice and faithfulness never fail. He protects His people, destroys the wicked, and by setting aside the Sabbath for this exercise, He wisely secures us from fainting under affliction and turns us from iniquity by showing that sinners, however they prosper briefly, will swiftly perish.

C.H. Spurgeon Reformed Baptist

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, or Jehovah. It is good ethically, for it is the Lord's right; it is good emotionally, for it is pleasant to the heart; it is good practically, for it leads others to render the same homage. When duty and pleasure combine, who will be backward?

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

Praising God is good work; it is our duty and our privilege, the rent we pay to our great Lord. The sabbath must be a day not only of rest but of holy work, and the proper work is thanksgiving. We show forth His loving kindness and faithfulness by recounting the objects of His mercy: not angels, but men, and these the worst and vilest.
