John Mark
Mark 2:25KJV·traditional attribution

And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

Christ had been put to justify himself in conversing with publicans and sinners: here he is put to justify his disciples; and in what they do according to his will he will justify them, and bear them out. I. He justifies them in their not fasting, which was turned to their reproach by the Pharisees. Why do the Pharisees and the disciples of John fast?

Commenting on Mark 2:18-28

John Gill Reformed Baptist

How he went into the house of God,.... The tabernacle; for the temple was not yet built: thither David went to get bread for himself and his men, being hungry: so in a spiritual sense, where should such go, who are hungering and thirsting after righteousness, but into the house of God?
