Moses
Exodus 38:11KJV·traditional attribution
And for the north side the hangings were an hundred cubits, their pillars were twenty, and their sockets of brass twenty; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.
Matthew Henry Presbyterian
These curtain walls, not stone, show the church then was a garden enclosed, confined to one nation but not forever. The enclosure itself would be taken down when the tent moved and made room for the Gentiles, as Isaiah saw. We pass through these courts toward the Holy Place above; the gradual approach teaches us that before we draw near to solemn ordinances, we must wash and prepare ourselves in a separated court with true hearts.
