Luke
Acts 10:33KJV·traditional attribution

Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

John Calvin Reformed

When Cornelius says they stand before God to hear, he means we must always think, when God's Word is set before us, that we face not a mortal man but God Himself present and calling us. From this reverence of God arises the majesty of His Word and our obedience in hearing it.

Cornelius appeals to God the searcher of hearts, who knows the sincerity of their intentions and the fervent desire of their souls to hear the Word. He means they gather not casually but in God's presence, ready to receive all things that Christ has commanded be taught them.
