David
Psalm 60:10ESV·superscription

Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.

John Calvin Reformed

PSALM 60 David, who was now settled upon the throne, and had gained several signal victories, tending to confirm him in the kingdom, in this Psalm exalts the goodness of God, that he might at once express his gratitude, and by conciliating the favor of such as still stood out against his interests, unite the community, which had been rent into factions.

C.H. Spurgeon Reformed Baptist

Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? Yes, the chastising God is our only hope. He loves us still. For a small moment doth he forsake, but with great mercy does he gather his people. Strong to smite, he is also strong to save.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

God has spoken His promise in holiness, and that word is the full fountain of joy to all who believe it. Take comfort now in what He has sworn to give, as surely as if you already possessed it. When God speaks, pardon is yours, peace is yours, grace is yours, Christ is yours, heaven itself is yours.
