Luke 8:25ESV·traditional attribution

He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?”

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

Christ ordered His disciples to sea that He might display His glory upon the water and work kindness for a possessed man on the far shore. They that have Christ accompanying them may safely venture anywhere; but even at His word, in a calm, they must prepare for storm and utmost peril. The devil, prince of the power of the air, perhaps suspected Christ's purpose to cast out that legion and poured tempest upon the ship to prevent it.

And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes,.... In Mat 8:28 it is called the country of the Gergesenes; see Gill on Mat 8:28 as it is here, in the Arabic and Ethiopic versions; and "of the Gerasenes", in the Vulgate Latin; but the Syriac and Persic versions read, "of the Gadarenes", as in Mar 5:1. See Gill on Mar 5:1.

You have the power to believe and will not use it. Stop looking for more faith; exercise what I have already given you. Many desire fresh grace while hiding the talent of faith they possess. Depend on God with what you have.
