Tyre must be lamented now, in her height, because prosperity is her snare and the cause of her ruin. We ought to mourn the calamities of all nations, even those they bring on themselves by folly. Tyre calls herself perfect beauty because of her buildings and wealth, but this is the folly of worldly children who mistake pomp for perfection.
