God sets His face against Judah like a forest stripped bare of fruit, overgrown with briars and thorns where a vineyard should flourish. The sword, famine, pestilence, and captivity will burn through it like fire consuming timber, and though the message is one of wrath, it must be delivered gently, that hearts might soften as earth drinks the rain.
