Moses
Exodus 40:12ESV·traditional attribution

Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting and shall wash them with water

John Calvin Reformed

Aaron is now inaugurated to office after long preparation, yet mark this: Moses himself was never consecrated by any outward sign. The oil belonged to the ceremonial shadows of the Law and ceased when Christ came; those Popish bishops who ape this rite with their stinking oil are simply foolish. Outward signs gain worth only from God's ordinance, not from the minister who applies them.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

Moses waited for express command before setting up the tabernacle, though everything was ready and the people eager. The timing, the first day of the first month, teaches us to begin each year with intentional service to God, and not to delay necessary work under pretence of waiting for some special season. Let the things of His kingdom be sought first.

Thus did Moses,.... He set up the tabernacle, and every thing in its place, and anointed them, and Aaron and his sons: according to all that the Lord commanded him, so did he; by which he approved himself to be a faithful servant in the house of God.
