Luke
Acts 17:33ESV·traditional attribution

So Paul went out from their midst.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

The philosophers of Athens could not stomach the resurrection of the dead; it flew in the face of their cherished principle that what is once lost cannot return. So they mocked and hissed Paul when he mentioned it, for this great doctrine which is the saints' joy became their jest. A few asked to hear more, but the pride of those schools, like the pride of the Pharisees, shut their minds against Christ.
