Matthew
Matthew 25:23BSB·traditional attribution

His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’

John Gill Reformed Baptist

The same commendation falls on both servants because a man of lesser gifts can be as faithful and praiseworthy as one with greater gifts. Their ultimate joy and happiness in glory will be alike. Do not mistake this parable to teach that man improves grace by his own industry and thereby earns eternal happiness; grace is not gained or improved by human effort, and the reward promised far exceeds what any servant has deserved.
