If God scrutinizes every idle word, think how His judgment will fall on those who bark against His glory like mastiff-dogs. Our tongues were made for a purpose, and to squander them on trifling fooleries is to prostitute what God gave us. Yet since none of us can speak without some idle words escaping, we have no hope except that God will bury our sins in gracious forgetfulness, not enter into judgment with us.
