Joshua
Joshua 13:28BSB·traditional attribution

This was the inheritance of the clans of the Gadites, including the cities and villages.

Matthew Henry Presbyterian

Joshua balked at dividing land not yet conquered, but God corrected him: take what lies before you now and trust the rest will follow when your numbers require it. Property divided by law and equity, not force, secures the inheritance for your children; what is seized by arms alone is soon lost again, but what God grants cannot be shaken.

John Gill Reformed Baptist

And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh,.... Whether at their request or of himself, there being land enough for them, and the two tribes of Gad and Reuben, is not certain: and this is the possession of the half tribe of Manasseh, by their families; which is after related and described.

Jos 13:27-28 On the north, the territory of Gad seems to have extended to the Jabbok, and only to have stretched beyond the Jabbok at Mahanaim, which formed the boundary of half-Manasseh, according to Jos 13:30. In the valley of the Jordan, on the other hand, the boundary reached to the Sea of Galilee.
